We recently replaced a house roof with Colorbond's 'Monument' corrugated roof sheeting. The roof had been hail damaged and hail dents were obvious on the roof sheets. You can read about the effects of hail on Colorbond roofing here.
As part of the roof replacement works, we: - Setup safety scaffolding to ensure WHS practices were followed - Removed all roof sheets, flashings and cappings - Installed new roof sheets, flashings, cappings, screws, dektites and fixings - New anticon sarking was installed which acts as a barrier in your roof cavity for moisture and acts like insulation - New skylights were also installed - two whirly birds were installed to assist with ventilation If you wanted to read more about the use of Colorbond and Zincalume as a roofing product, click here. We would be happy to assist you in advising the best roofing product as well as colour for your project. We recently had a customer who had a leaking tile roof. They had sarking in the roof, however is was original from the homes construction and had worn over the years. It was torn and shredded in some sections, allowing the water to get into the ceiling.
How was the water entering the ceiling you might ask? Through leaking tile clips. The tile clips originally used to secure the tiles were an older style Monier tile clip that are notorious for leaking and causing this issue. How did the customer know there was a roofing issue? There was scattered water stains and mould patches throughout the ceilings of the home. This is an obvious sign that the tile clips are the cause. This is how we rectified the issue: - Removed all roof tiles and roof clips - Removed all timber battens - Supplied and installed heavy duty Rhino sarking - Reinstalled original battens - Reinstalled original roof tiles and new tile clips - Rebed all ridge capping - Repointed all ridge capping with flexible pointing - Water tested to ensure no further water leaks Installing heavy duty roof sarking to the roof cavity is great for added protection from the elements and reducing moisture in the roof cavity. It was a great result and we were happy to resolve this issue for the customer. They can now finally fix up the internal damage the water damage has caused over the years - replastering and painting their ceilings. The customer also wanted to update the colour of the roof and chose Shieldcoat 'Roof Red' to update it with. We have used Shieldcoat roofing paints for over 7 years and and never returned to a job for poor prodcut quality. They are an Australian based paint manufacturer and their product is built for Australian conditions and climate. We high pressure cleaned and painted the roof during this process. This waterfront home in Tweeds Heads NSW now has a water tight roof that will give the customer many years of reassurance. It is now as good as new! ![]() Decromastic roofs are metal sheets that are manufactured to look like roof tiles. They are notorious for leaking and over time causing issues and damage to your home. If you want to see a replacement of a decromastic roof from start to finish click here to see a job we recently undertook at Eagle Heights in the Gold Coast Hinterland. This week we undertook a roof replacement on a decromstic roof on the Gold Coast. The roof was initially metal and new battens and decromastic sheets had been laid over the top many years ago. This was common but bad practice in previous times, meaning we had to remove two roofs to then relay it with Colorbond steel. You can see in the progress photos below the existing decromastic roof - removing the roof sheets to reveal battens and an iron roof underneath - we then laid new metal battens and sarking before installing the Colorbond roof sheets. The owner also changed the colour of the roof, choosing Ironstone from the Colorbond range which updated the home and gave it a more modern feel. You can read more about updating your homes street appeal and choosing a new roof colour here on our website. We also replaced the guttering on the home and downpipes, so that the roof and gutters are now all new and comply with today's standards and best practice. Repair work to stop water entry into roof cavityThis home had water entering the roof cavity from the valley. The issue was that water was backflowing into the roof cavity as the existing valley seal and sarking was channelling the water into the roof cavity, instead of out. The following works were undertaken: - Removed all valley tiles - Removed all valley seal - Trimmed back sarking from valley - Lifted all joins in valley iron and resealed to obtain a secure seal so no water can backflow into the roof cavity - Supplied and installed new valley seal to valley iron, doubling up where roof changes pitch - Reinstated all valley tiles and valley tile clips - Reinstated and reclippped tiles around skylights If you are experiencing roof leaks - whether it be tile or metal, contact us today we can provide you with a free roof inspection and quote Fixing holes in sarking to stop roof leaksToday we completed repairs to a customers sarking, which had large holes in some sections, allowing water entry into the roof cavity. Sarking is installed under your tiled or metal roof, to provide protection against the elements and as an extra barrier. In order to repair the sections of sarking, we had to remove the roof tiles, cut a section of sarking to fit, fasten it and then relay the roof tiles. This will now make this roof water tight once more and ensure no further water damage is caused to the homes ceiling. If you have any questions about sarking, or tile roof repairs feel free to leave a comment below or contact us. We had a call from a customer at Tweed Heads who had a routine leaking roof. Each time it rained, water would be guaranteed to leak in. There was two reasons why this was occurring: 1. There was no sarking in the roof 2. The tile clips used to secure the tiles were an older style Monier tile clip that are notorious for leaking and causing this issue. This is how we rectified the issue: - Removed all roof tiles and roof clips approx. 80m2 - Removed all timber battens - Supplied and installed heavy duty sarking - Reinstalled original battens - Reinstalled original roof tiles and new tile clips - Rebed all ridge capping 12.3Lm - Repointed all ridge capping with flexible pointing - Water tested to ensure no further water leaks installing heavy duty roof sarking to the roof cavity is great for added protection from the elements and reducing moisture in the roof cavity. It was a great result and we were happy to resolve this issue for the customer. They can now finally fix up the internal damage the water damage has caused over the years - replastering and painting their ceilings. |
