Today we undertook terracotta tile roof repairs on the Gold Coast. Several tiles and approximately 10 meters of lead flashing had been hail damaged. We removed and replaced all the broken tiles and replaced the lead flashing. We also discovered a furry friend snoozing in the gable on the front of the roof - a big healthy possum! Today we replaced a small metal roof on a Gold Coast home. The roof had reached the end of its life - it was rusted and aged. Alongside this, the metal roof sheets were corrugated, which are designed for roofs with a minimum 5 degree pitch. This roof had minimum pitch, so the corrugated roof sheets were not ideal to maximise water run off. The result was that they had a lot of water back flowing into the roof cavity and causing dreaded roof leaks and internal mould issues. The solution was to replace the roof with Metroll's Trimclad roof sheeting which are designed for roofs with minimal pitch. The larger span allows for more water run off. We also installed a custom flashing between the tiled roof and metal roof so no water can continue to backflow into the roof cavity. If you are interested in speaking to us about reroofing your home, contact us today, we guarantee quality workmanship and a great price Last week we undertook a complete tile roof restoration, installed whirly birds and replaced guttering and downpipes to a home in Burleigh Waters on the Gold Coast, QLD. The home owners wanted to update the look of their home and paint their roof in a contrasting colour to the brick. They decided to go a mid shad of grey, from Shieldcoat's roofing membrane range called 'Slate Grey'. They also wanted to improve the ventilation to their home, so we installed two whirly birds at the highest point in the roof to increase airflow and reduce moisture. The guttering and downpipes to the home were aged and had holes and rust appearing, so we replaced them with Metroll's Big M Gutter in the Colorbond colour 'Monument'. The process of the roof restoration and gutter replacement was: - Change broken roof tiles - High pressure clean the entire roof area - Repoint all ridge caps with flexible pointing mortar - Install 2x whirly birds at the highest point of the roof to assist with ventilation - Apply one coat of roofing primer - Apply two coats of roofing membrane - Paint the fascia to colour match the roof - Remove the existing guttering and downpipes - Replace the guttering and downpipes We were thrilled with the results of the roof and thought the colour really achieved the contrast the owners were looking for. Today we installed two new skylights to a home's roof that had been badly damaged by recent storm activity. The skylights were cracked and we installed complete new skylight to stop the water leaks that were occurring as a result of the damage.
If you are thinking about adding more natural light to your home, a skylight is a great option. Skylights can be installed to both metal and tile roofs and there are many shape alternatives such as domed, pyramidal, square, round, hexagonal and triangular. The skylights are available in clear, tint or opal hi impact acrylic or polycarbonate. They can be custom made to suit your needs, colour preference and size! If you are interested in discussing skylight options for your home, contact us today, we would be more than happy to provide you with some advice. |
